Tannery Knobs Bike Park
Tannery Knobs Bike Park is a shining example of what can happen when a community comes together. The park was made possible through the vision and commitment of Trek Bicycle, Up and At 'Em, the Tennessee Department of Health, Summers-Taylor Construction, the City of Johnson City, and countless others who donated their time, resources, expertise, and support to transform an underutilized hillside into one of the Southeast's premier mountain biking destinations.
Located just minutes from the heart of vibrant downtown Johnson City, Tannery Knobs is easily accessible for local residents and visitors alike, making it an ideal destination for quick after-work rides, weekend adventures, and community events.
The park features a thoughtfully designed trail system with dedicated beginner, intermediate, and advanced zones, allowing riders of every skill level to ride confidently while progressing at their own pace. Repeatable features, intentional trail design, and highly social riding areas create an environment where learning and progression happen naturally, encouraging riders to push their limits alongside friends.
Visitors are welcomed by ample parking situated adjacent to the park's world-class Velosolutions pump track, a standout attraction that offers riders of all ages a fun, skills-focused experience while showcasing sweeping views of Buffalo Mountain.
Since opening in 2019, Tannery Knobs has continued to evolve through multiple expansion projects. The most ambitious began in 2026, extending trails into the lower section of the property. Once complete, this expansion will nearly double the park's trail opportunities while creating stronger connections to downtown Johnson City, further cementing Tannery Knobs as a regional hub for outdoor recreation, tourism, and community engagement.
The result is far more than a bike park. Tannery Knobs is a community gathering place where recreation, health, and economic development intersect, helping establish Johnson City as one of the Southeast's premier outdoor destinations.
